What this service covers
Residential work is the backbone of what we do, and it is deliberately simple. You tell us what needs to go, we quote a flat rate on the phone, and on collection day two specialists carry it out of wherever it currently sits — upstairs bedroom, back of the garage, bottom of the basement stairs. You are not expected to drag anything to the curb, and you are not expected to help.
The rate we quote already contains sales tax and disposal. There are exactly two surcharges in the residential price list and both are published: $50 where a bed frame includes a headboard and footboard, and $50 where an appliance requires elaborate plumbing disconnection. Nothing else appears on the final bill.
- Furniture, mattresses and appliances
- Garage, attic and basement clear-outs
- No lifting required from you
- Same-week pickup in most of the service area
What we take away most weeks
If your item is not listed, describe it on the phone — the list below is the common half, not the whole of it.
Furniture
Couches, sleeper sofas, recliners, dining sets, bed frames, dressers, desks and the wardrobe that will not fit down the stairs.
Appliances
Refrigerators, chest freezers, washers, driers, dishwashers, ranges and water heaters — with refrigerant handled by a certified technician where required.
Electronics
Tube and flat-screen televisions, monitors, printers, stereo equipment and the box of cables everyone keeps for no reason.
Whole-room clear-outs
Garages, basements, attics, spare bedrooms and sheds, cleared in one visit rather than trickled out over six weekends.
Exercise equipment
Treadmills, ellipticals, weight benches and racks — heavy, awkward, and the single most common thing people injure themselves moving.
Yard and renovation debris
Deck boards, fencing, brush piles and small demolition debris, subject to a look at volume and weight before we quote.
What we cannot accept
There is a short list of material that no general hauler is permitted to carry, and being straight about it up front saves everyone a wasted trip.
- Paints, solvents, motor oil and other household hazardous waste
- Asbestos-containing material of any kind
- Medical sharps and biohazard material
- Propane tanks, fuel cans and ammunition
- Pesticides, fertilisers and pool chemicals
Your county household hazardous waste facility takes most of these free of charge for residents. If you are unsure which bucket an item falls into, call and describe it. We would far rather answer the question in advance than leave you with a surprise on the day.
The multi-item discount is bigger than people expect
The $50 discount applies to every item in a multi-item pickup, not just the second one. Three appliances at $200 each are not $600 — they are $150 each, so $450. It is almost always worth walking the house once before you book and adding everything to the same visit.
Please do not move heavy items yourself
Every season we meet somebody who hurt their back getting a treadmill to the driveway before we arrived, believing it would speed things up or lower the price. It does neither. The rate is the same whether the item is in the basement or on the curb.
